Craig Groeschel was born December 2, 1967 and is the founder and senior pastor of Lifechurch.tv. He is married with six children and lives in Edmond, Oklahoma, a suburb of Oklahoma City, where LifeChurch.tv is based.
He started Lifechurch.tv in January 1996 with 40 people meeting together "in a two-car garage, equipped with just a borrowed overhead projector and two construction lights purchased at Lowe’s for $19.99."
From 1996 to 1999 the church grew rapidly and is now considered the second largest church in the United States. It has fifteen locations in five states. LifeChurch.tv encourages people to become "partners" in helping lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.
The church developed a Bible app for cellphones called YouVersion and has been described as the world's most popular Bible program for cell phones.
North Point Community Church
Andy Stanley was born May 16, 1958 and is the senior pastor of North Point Community Church. He also founded North Point Ministries, which is a worldwide Christian organization.
Andy received a bachelor's degree and later earned a masters degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.
After working for several years as Associate Pastor and Minister to Students for his father, Charles Stanley, he and five others founded North Point Community Church in 1995.
The church has now grown to five campuses and over 24,000 attenders each week, making it one of the largest churches in the United States. Andy lives in Alpharetta, Georgia with his wife Sandra and their three children.
Steven Furtick was born February 19, 1980 and is the Lead Pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born and raised in Moncks Corner, South Carolina and at the age of 16, after reading the book Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala, he "felt called to pastor a church in a major city".
After receiving a seminary degree and serving as music director at a local church in Shelby, North Carolina, Furtick moved to Charlotte and started Elevation Church. The church had their first worship experience on February 5, 2006. 121 people attended. Since then, the church's regular attendance has grown to over 15,000, currently meeting in eight different locations. It has been consistently labeled as 1 of the top 100 fastest growing churches in America.
